Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend — not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). The CRA is the go-to for information about tax laws surrounding charitable giving and the CRA website provides a wealth of essential knowledge and services for charities and donors, including a charitable donation tax calculator, a searchable database of all Canadian charities, and links to publications and forms relevant to charities and donors.

One of Canada's best-known charities, the Muttart Foundation’s charitable activities include policy research, public awareness research and analysis, consultations on the regulation of charities, seminars and workshops on key issues and concerns affecting charities as well as special projects.
